The darkness crept in on the young girls pale face, until only her hair could be seen. In the darkness what was normally just a random bunching of rotten tendrils became a roaring fire of curls. The room invited her; it waited for her response eager, feeding on her misery. The walls smelled faintly of death, where the door should be a curtain had been hung. Not that she could see all that was preventing her from escaping into a world beyond what she had ever known was a dust-ridden worn down curtain. Drip, Drip, Drip! All day, all night or what she perceived as day and night. Today she would be free! Free from the endless dripping of some unknown substance creating a yellow grey stain. Today not even the darkness could stop her, she would make her escape.
